Underside of head, thorax white or slightly yellowish (but never orange as in Cephonodes picus) abdominal tuft black. Foretibia lacking a pronounced apical claw. Upperside of abdomen with a black and dark red belt tergite 6 with a black median patch, which often has some red scales anal tuft green.
